Where link risk comes from
Risk is driven by manipulative patterns: irrelevant domains, repeated exact-match anchors, automated copy and abnormal volume. Removal and deindexation also create commercial risk.
Screen before publishing
Review visibility trends, indexed samples, topic fit and outbound-link density. Avoid broad networks with indistinguishable templates and unclear ownership.
- Review current publisher evidence, not a single score.
- Align the article, audience and destination page.
- Confirm link and permanence terms before payment.
Respond proportionately
Document the source, target and attribute, request removal when appropriate, and use disavow only with a clear understanding of scope. Prevention is safer than cleanup.
